Advocacy and influencing - September 24

At the September network meeting, place based giving schemes discussed the key topics they felt we should talk about in our advocacy and influencing role and surfaced a wide range of important themes that reflect the opportunities and challenges of place based giving. This fell under six thematic areas:

  1. Funding Reform and Access - addressing systemic barriers and opportunities to improve equity and sustainability in funding.
  2. Business & Corporate Engagement - engaging businesses beyond CSR to unlock new resources and partnerships.

  3. Local Authority & Public Sector Collaboration - Strengthening relationships with councils, NHS, and ICSs can embed Place Based Giving in local systems.

  4. Learning, Evaluation & Impact - Demonstrating value and sharing learning is key to advocacy and sustainability.

  5. Inclusion, Diversity & Community Building - These topics ensure Place Based Giving remains inclusive and community-led.

  6. Strategic Positioning & Broader Influence - These are longer-term opportunities to expand Place Based Giving's reach and influence.
