Here are some updates from the oneRichmond team
- oneRichmond has agreed that its initial funding priority will be the needs of young people, particularly but not exclusively those affected by poor mental health and those who are victims of crime or criminally exploited.
- Rocket Science have been commissioned to undertake the local research into the needs of young people in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames, and trained peer researchers will be central in engaging with young people.
- In November oneRichmond and Rocket Science held a consultation meeting with professionals working with young people in Richmond - this was very well attended by representatives from both the statutory and voluntary sector. Rocket Science explained the background and context to the research. This was followed by group discussions on: 1. What are the big issues facing young people and what are the gaps in service provision in Richmond; and 2. How best to recruit the young people/peer researchers for the consultation and who to consult for the stakeholder focus groups.
- In December 11 peer researchers were trained and this will be followed by further training in January, including some additional peer researchers.
- The research will also highlight models of good practice in other parts of the country.
- It is expected that a report will be produced at the end of May 2020.
