Place-based giving schemes have first hand knowledge of the communities they work with. By building strong local connections and listening to residents, they really get to know a place, and all the strengths, aspirations - and challenges- that go with this. This is all part of the ambition of place based giving schemes to work alongside local groups to create solutions that work for the unique character and challenges of their borough.
Earlier this year, Hammersmith and Fulham Giving published a report which presents a comprehensive overview of the challenges facing their community. These include income and debt, basic living needs, community cohesion, health and wellbeing, education and employment, digital inclusion and other problems including lack of access to arts & culture, violence and abuse and climate change.
On the publication of the report, colleagues at H&F Giving said it will enable them to work with charity partners 'to provide long-term cost-effective solutions to the problems our neighbours are facing' and also identify how H&F Giving 'can serve as a critical connector to develop powerful collaborations and bring about change'.
We'd encourage you to visit their website to read more about the report, which was commissioned by H&F Giving and undertaken by Rocket Science.
