Established at the end of 2020, Camden Giving’s Equality Fund awarded grants in April 2021 to support groups addressing inequalities faced by young people and families, women, people of colour, disabled people and care leavers. The Equality Fund was formed over many weeks of discussions; and as part of Camden Giving’s participatory grant-making model, a community panel co-designed the application process and the fund criteria.
In April the panel awarded ten organisations £30,000 each of unrestricted funding to be spent over two years. The panel’s focus was supporting small organisations, and it is hoped that the grants awarded will not only be a life line to deserving small organisations, but it will also help them deliver their mission with stability and consistency as they rebound from the unprecedented events of 2020. This work is just the start for Camden Giving, which is looking to the future and what it can do next to make an even bigger impact in 2021 and beyond.
