Giving Tuesday: Reflections from Camden Giving

On Tuesday the 3rd of December 2019, Camden Giving launched its next fundraising campaign. The campaign was launched on #GivingTuesday, a day where people from all around the world come together to give back. What started in the USA as a day that follows Black Friday and Cyber Monday has grown into a worldwide celebration of generosity and Camden Giving used the day to begin fundraising for local youth services.

Camden Giving's campaign was focussed on raising money for a second year of The Future Changemakers Fund that will be granted out by a panel of local residents and go to local youth services, in the fight against inequality in the borough. Camden Giving works to keep local young people safe by funding a wide range of youth services, everything from boxing clubs, to mental health support and employment engagement.

Local businesses on the day got involved in a whole host of ways, from bake sales, to cocktail parties, a yoga class to raffle sales, book sales to collection tins, plus other businesses contributed matched funding which doubled donations made on the day. The variety and generosity of support underpins the kindness of Camden and so far Camden Giving have raised £6,000.00. This will enable them to get 60 more young people into youth services in 2020, something so important in keeping young people safe, engaged and supported.

Camden Giving want to thank each business and individual who got involved in the campaign and look forward to sharing more information on The Future Changemakers Year 2 early in 2020.
