Green Shoots Stories

In September 2018 the Kensington & Chelsea Foundation launched Green Shoots as part of the Grenfell Community Development Fund to support local projects and people who intend to bring bursts of hope and joy to the community. Since then the Kensington & Chelsea Foundation has received project applications from organisations throughout North Kensington with one off community ideas such as trips, new pieces of equipment or planting of green spaces.

Projects will usually be for small amounts of between £250 and £1,000.

Here are just some of the projects funded so far:

  • Lancaster West Residents’ Association - Autumn half term activities for children and families including arts and crafts, drama, cinema and swimming in October 2018
  • Notting Dale Together - Community family day and cook off between local police force, fire brigade, Westway Trust, community members and RBKC in October 2018
  • Venture Community Association Maternity Champions - ‘Pamper Me Parenthood Party’ with workshops, relaxation therapies and goodie bags in November 2018
  • Rugby Portobello Trust - Seniors’ Christmas sit down dinner for 100 local residents in December 2018
  • Abundance Arts - ‘Good Morning Neighbours Wellbeing Festival’ for local residents in December 2018
  • Sudanese Nubian Association - Women and children’s fun day in December 2018
  • Silchester Residents’ Association - Christmas lunch for isolated older residents in December 2018
  • 240Project - Christmas Fair and Christmas Party with dinner in December 2018
  • Maestro7 CIC - A three-day Caribbean Street Foods Christmas Festival in December 2018
  • Ethiopian Women’s Empowerment Group – Family Fun Day for parents and children to have fun, socialise and relax in January 2019
